Smart watch Casio WSD-F20. Already Pro Trek and with GPS

Let’s start. At CES 2017 [where technology companies are introducing new technologies and techniques for the future], Casio has shown a new series of WSD-F20. Yes, you read it right – this is the continuation of the “so-so” smart-hours WSD-F10 [we even have a whole column devoted to smart watches]. Why “like yourself”? Because many readers and critics do not consider them very much. In general, they have the right. We already thought that the deal with clever capabilities at Casio was at an impasse. But no. At least for now. WSD-F20 prove the opposite – tight, slow, incomprehensible how, but goes …

What do we see? The body received minor stylistic changes. For comparison, you can look at an earlier representative of the “smart” WSD-F10.

An important detail [in fact, no, but we were hurt] – the inscription Pro Trek. She is already present. In the first model was not. This is the moment we do not understand. The case is similar: all the same standard of impact resistance MIL-STD-810 and 50 meter water resistance. Why was the WSD-F10 so afraid to call the Pro Trek’sCasio WSD-F20 7Casio WSD-F20 8

About the characteristics. If you remember, WSD F-10 synchronized with the smartphone and only with the help of specialized applications transferred the GPS position to the card. Protrek WSD-F20 got their own GPS sensor [including GLONASS * 1 and Michibiki]. It’s a success. Next on the list are colored cards. We do not know how much color is critical for you, but support for offline map work is also normal. Color maps [and other features] are well seen in the video below.

Touch screen, without it yet [320 × 300 px, color TFT LCD and monochrome LCD]. Sensors: barometer / altimeter, accelerometer [same turn sensor or acceleration sensor – it is worth to understand what role it performs], gyrometer [speed meter] and magnetic sensor [compass].

Microphone and vibro alerts are present. Wireless technologies: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® V4.1 Low Energy. The most painful place is a battery. Yes, it needs to be charged with a magnetic-charger charger [convenient, no separate vulnerable connector]. It takes only 2 hours to fully charge.

How much is enough?

  • 1 day – if really use “at full”;
  • 1 month – if only the current time display mode.

Size: 61.7 × 56.4 × 15.7 mm. Not small.
